Just wanted to share my first finished Jaywalker (since it'll be forever before I finish the second. I LOVE IT! The yarn was dyed with koolaid, in 8 different shades. Enjoy!

Too many WIPs, and I can't help but order more yarn...

Not much time to knit this week with classes starting. I've done a little work on my second Jaywalker, and a tiny bit on my vest. But on the way I have the yarn for this:
I was going to knit this last year, and never did. But I love it. I am using Knitpicks Merino Style in this color:

I LOVE IT!

And my next future project is the Tilted Duster from Interweave Knits. I love this sweater more every time I look at it. When I get paid next week, I'm going to order the yarn. I think I'll be using Elann's Sierra Peruvian, but I can't pick a color because they are all so gorgeous. How great is this sweater!?

That's about it for now. The Where's Waldo party is tomorrow, so I'll be sure to post pictures with my whole outfit!

Spinning!

I learned how to spin yarn today, so that was exciting. Not that exciting though because I kind of suck at it so far. I learned on a drop spindle, and also got to spin a little on a wheel. Cheryl, the owner of my LYS was so nice. She let me borrow her drop spindle and offered to let me take home her spare wheel to practice on and see if I want to buy it. That makes me nervous though because it costs a lot of money and I wouldn't want anything to happen to it. I may take her up on it sometime though. She also gave me a bag fleece to practice with the spindle.

The brown was spun on the wheel. As you can see, neither one looks very good. But oh well.

So I bought this yarn today. It's Classic Elite Fame. I've never used it before, but it was half off at my LYS so I bought a few. It gave me the opportunity to use my brand new swift and ball winder too! Anyway, it is 85% Rayon and 15% Silk. So not the warmest stuff in the world, but I kind of wanted to knit something for my mom for her birthday in October with it. I just don't know what to knit that she might actually use this fall/winter. Any suggestions? I was considering using small glass opal beads with it, since that is her birthstone, and it would actually match the yarn really well. Hmm..

That's it for now, but I'll leave you with a picture of my boy Sir Mack. He looks so ashamed..

New Blog

So after months of admiring all of the wonderful knitting blogs out there, I finally decided to start my own. I predict it will either suck because I will never put in the time to update, or I will become obsessed and it will take up all my spare time. That is, until I get invited to Ravelry because that is sure to be the end of me. But I'm behind like 13,000+ people so it's gonna be awhile. Anyway, I'm really in the process of getting pictures of my past FOs together so it's not an empty blog. I did, however, finish one today that I can post, so yay! I'm really excited about joining the rest of the knitting world, and for that matter the rest of the internet because it seems like everyone but me has a blog already. Onto the knitting.

My friends are having a Where's Waldo party next weekend. Feeling nostalgic and crafty, I jumped at the idea of knitting a Waldo hat. And I also loved the idea of using some acrylic yarn up. I just made this up as I went, using Caron Simply Soft. Enjoy!
